There really has been a lack of interesting movies lately, and since my interests don't extend to Horror movies on our local screens, there may be a slowdown in reviews here.
So, no - I won't be looking at Annabelle, The Haunting of Helena nor Dark House, let's not even bother with A Haunted House 2. The week of October 11 will see the Disney Heroes Film Festival which will re-run some Disney cartoons such as The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Toy Story, Wreck-It Ralph, Bolt and Lilo and Stitch (which I might want to catch if possible) along with one new scheduled new movie - One Direction: Where We Are(!) their concert film. Jeremy Renner's new flick, Kill The Messenger, is on limited release elsewhere in Malaysia. No sign of it in Penang as yet. It's supposed to be really good. Acclaimed movies such as Gone Girl (from David Fincher, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike) and The Judge (starring Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall) are not even scheduled for our screens! And they wonder why movie piracy is rampant in this region... So what do we have? More horror flicks like Kristy and Ouija, the latest from Nicolas Cage such as Outcast and Left Behind (that's one for the religious set, a remake of a Kirk Cameron movie based on those books about The Rapture), The Rewrite (with Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei) and since we don't have enough grungy vikings around on TV, Northmen: A Viking Saga is due Oct 23. These are the movies our local distributor (yes, singular) thinks the local audience will pay for. They don't want the general public to be too smart to think for themselves. At least there will be the animated feature from Mexico, The Book of Life to look forward to. But that's one movie in the whole month. Maybe I'll catch up on some other shows elsewhere. Still haven't seen The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - which I've heard is far less than amazing and way over-long.
